Card fees, surcharge and tips.

Your processing rate is listed under Settings → Payments in the Processing fees & accepted methods section, together with the cards and wallets you can accept. On the same page you can apply a credit card surcharge and find your tip settings.

Steps

1. Open Settings → Payments.
2. Scroll to Processing fees & accepted methods. It shows the rate for payments taken in person, online or by keyed entry, and for bank transfers, plus the accepted cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay.
3. To pass the card cost on, find Credit card surcharge and switch on Apply a surcharge to credit card payments. The rate is set automatically to match your processing cost and cannot be changed. The page shows it as a percentage.
4. Tick the box confirming that surcharging is permitted where your business operates. The switch is unavailable in states that prohibit surcharges, based on the address on your Account page.
5. The Tips section holds Enable tips on card payments and Suggested tip amounts.
6. Tap Save changes.

Good to know

The surcharge applies to credit cards only. Debit cards, prepaid cards and bank transfers are never surcharged, and the pay link shows the surcharge as its own line before the customer pays.

During Collect payment the customer picks one of the tip percentages on the sheet, enters a Custom amount or chooses No tip. The tip is charged together with the payment.

Bank transfer fees are deducted from your payout, and the customer pays nothing extra. The Bank transfers section shows the rate.
