Open the job, press Send SMS under Client, pick a ready-made template or write your own message, and press Send. The text goes out from your business number, and anything the customer sends back lands in Messages.

Steps

  1. Open the job from Jobs or Schedule.
  2. Under Client, press Send SMS next to the customer's phone number.
  3. Under Quick templates, pick a ready-made text such as Running late or Job complete, or one of the two that say you are on the way in 15 or 30 minutes. The wording drops into the Message box, where you can change it or write something else.
  4. Press Send. JobField confirms with SMS sent.

Good to know

When the job has a time on it, a Confirmation template is offered too. It carries the day, the arrival window and the address, and it asks the customer to reply if they need to reschedule.

Replies arrive in Messages, where everything to and from that customer sits in one conversation.

You can reword the ready-made templates, or write your own, under Settings → Automations in the Quick replies section. Nothing sends these by itself. Someone always picks one and presses send.

Texting has to be set up before the first message goes out. If it is not, JobField tells you and offers Set up, which takes you to Settings → Phone & texting. The Send SMS button shows up only once the customer has a phone number on file.
