Why JobField Pay asks for your SSN or documents, and why a payout can be held.

Any business that takes card payments has to be identified under federal rules against money laundering. The setup asks for your business EIN, or your Social Security number if you are a sole proprietor, your bank account and a photo ID. Payouts wait until that review is complete, and a new account holds its first funds for a few days.

Steps

  1. Open Payments. Until the setup is complete the page shows the JobField Pay card headed Take cards on every job, with the setup on the page itself. In the iPhone app the card reads Finish setting up JobField Pay with a Finish setup button, and the setup opens in Safari.
  2. Work through the setup. Each screen names what is still missing: a document, a date of birth, a bank account. From the app, the status updates on its own when you come back. Only the owner can complete it.
  3. Enter the details exactly as they appear on your documents. A legal name that differs from the EIN letter, or an address that differs from your ID, is the usual reason a review asks for more.
  4. When nothing is left to complete, the page says your account is under review. Card payments turn on once it is approved, and the Payments page switches to your balance.

Good to know

Why a payout can be held. New accounts hold their first funds for a few days before the first payout. A review can also pause payouts on a live account until a document is supplied, and the Payments page then shows what is needed at the top.

Who sees your details. Your SSN, ID and bank details go to the payments provider that runs JobField Pay. JobField does not store them.
