Mobile carriers in the United States require every business that texts customers from a business number to be registered once. JobField files the registration for you from the details you enter under Settings → Phone & texting, and texting turns on by itself once the carriers approve it. Calls never wait on it.
Steps
- On a computer, open Settings → Phone & texting, go to the Numbers tab and press Set up phone & texting. If you already have a number, press Set up texting instead.
- Under Your business, enter your Legal business name and EIN exactly as they appear on your IRS EIN letter, choose your Business type, and add your Website, Facebook page, or Google Business page.
- Fill in Business address as it appears on the EIN letter.
- Under Authorized representative, enter the owner's name, Business email and Mobile phone. Type Owner under Title and pick the closest Position, usually CEO.
- Tick the box that authorizes the texting registration and press Activate phone & texting, or Activate texting for a number you already have.
Good to know
How long it takes. The status reads Texting · Registering while the carriers review it. Approval usually takes a few hours to a couple of days. When it is approved the status reads Texting · Active, and texts from jobs, automations and Messages start going out.
What the carriers check. They compare the legal name and EIN against IRS records and look for a public web presence. A trade name, a missing LLC or Inc, or a website that does not load are the usual reasons for a rejection. A brand-new EIN can take two to four weeks to become verifiable.
What it costs. Filling in the form charges nothing. Where a one-time phone setup and carrier registration fee applies, it is shown in Settings on the web.
